Pitru Paksha (the sacred 16-lunar-day fortnight dedicated to ancestral reverence) is the most powerful spiritual window of the Hindu calendar. Important Dates for Pitru Paksha 2026
Pitru Paksha 2026 will be observed from:
- Commencement (Poornima Shradh): 26th September 2026
- Sarva Pitru Amavasya (Mahalaya): 10th October 2026
During these 16 days, the barriers between the physical world and Pitru Loka are believed to dissolve. Offerings of barley flour (jau), black sesame (kala til), kusha grass, Ganga jal, and honey reach the ancestors directly through the divine conduit of Lord Vishnu.
